Now not many people are aware of the name Jardine’s when it comes to automotive retailing but the name Lancaster dates back to the late 60’s when Nick Lancaster started a Ford Dealership in the heartland of the brand, Essex. In 1981 the Hong Kong based Jardine Matheson took a majority shareholding in the, by now, very successful dealer group and a little over 10 years later purchased the remaining shares. Jardine Motors Group contiuned to grow now operates out of over 70 sites in the UK representing some of the most desirable car brands in the world turning over more than £1.7bn (take a look at their website and you'll see what we mean!)

For us, this was an unusual role in that we were asked to provide an interim senior management support for a divisional director. This involved looking after three separate operations based realtively close to our offices in Essex and as such we were tasked with managing and improving the daily operations of each of these three sites as well as support them through a number of peak registration periods and provide support to the head office function. Our contract lasted eight months and we must say we thoroughly enjoyed working with such a dynamic and exciting dealer group and a lovely bunch of enthusiastic people. Over that time the client manager involved adopted this role as a full time one spending five days a week with the client becoming fully immersed in the operation and, we hope, adding some real value to the operation and support to the great teams at each site.

All good things must come to an end (they say) and sadly the contract finished when Jardine's decided to sell all of their Toyota & Lexus businesses in the south of the country to another partner but we hope to renew our relationship with Jardine's again in the not too distant future (fingers crossed!)
